Program Overview:

The loss of equipment or the search for underwater objects are common situations among divers. With SSI’s Search & Recovery specialty course, you will learn the search protocols and patterns necessary to locate lost or unknown objects.

From introducing search patterns to bottom scanning, this course will teach you the skills necessary to conduct an effective search depending on ground conditions and the object being searched for. In addition, you will learn to use tools such as buoys to retrieve heavy objects that you cannot manually raise.

Training standards

• Duration: 2 days
• Confined water: 1 session
• Open water dives: 2

• 1 confined water session, 2 open water dives, digital learning materials and SSI Search and Recovery certification

Requirements

• Minimum 12 years old
• SSI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent
