Recreational Sidemount Diving

Learn how to use the sidemount configuration for a more comfortable and safe dive

Program Overview:

Sidemount diving has become very popular in cave and wreck exploration due to its ability to improve mobility and maneuverability in confined spaces, as well as the flexibility to change the configuration and position of tanks during the dive. These advantages have made it increasingly popular in recreational diving as well.
By carrying cylinders at the sides instead of on the back, greater stability is achieved and buoyancy control is improved. The SSI Recreational Sidemount Diving programme trains divers in the proper setup and maintenance of sidemount equipment, as well as the techniques to dive safely and comfortably with this configuration.
