Recreational Sidemount Diving
Learn how to use the sidemount configuration for a more comfortable and safe dive
Program Overview:
Sidemount diving has become increasingly popular because it offers greater comfort, improved trim and better freedom of movement underwater. Originally developed for cave and wreck exploration, it is now also widely appreciated by recreational divers who want a more streamlined and flexible equipment setup.
By wearing your cylinders at your sides instead of on your back, you’ll often experience improved balance, easier access to your equipment and more natural buoyancy control.
During the SSI Recreational Sidemount Diving specialty, you’ll learn how to configure and use sidemount equipment correctly, manage your trim and buoyancy, and dive safely and comfortably with this setup.
