The highlight on any dive professional’s career is the day they become an Open Water Instructor (OWI). You may go on to other higher instructor ratings, but you will never forget the day you first become an OWI. The process of becoming an SSI Instructor involves attending an SSI Instructor Training Course (ITC). These courses are run by SSI approved Instructor Training Centres and administered by an SSI approved Instructor Trainer (IT). Calero Diving is a fully approved ITC with two Instructor Trainers resident on site.
In order to attend an ITC course you must already be qualified as an Assistant Instructor/Dive Control Specialist, be 18 years of age or more and have at least 75 logged open water dives. The ITC course lasts 12 days and is designed to prepare you for the Instructor Evaluation that will take place at the end of the course. The course is designed to provide candidates with the knowledge, concepts and training necessary to organise and conduct entry-level scuba training courses. Candidates will learn the SSI Teaching System and philosophy, and how to effectively teach and evaluate Open Water Diver students.
Once you are certified as an SSI Open Water Instructor you will be qualified to teach open water students anywhere in the world at any registered SSI Dive Centre. Join one of our ITC courses which run twice a year in June and December of each year.
The SSI Open Water Instructor Training Course costs 1795€ lasts for 12 days. This price includes exam and SSI instructor fees. If you are already an SSI Dive Control Specialist the all inclusive course price is €1,295.
Reserve your place on our next ITC course in advance by paying a deposit and we will send you the link to SSI’s online learning materials.
