Your first step to becoming a dive professional

The SSI Dive Guide specialisation is the first step on the ladder to becoming a fully qualified dive professional. As an SSI Professional Dive Guide you can work for SSI Dive Centres throughout the world. The certification allows you to guide certified divers in a variety of environments and conditions.

The Dive Guide specialisation is designed to give you the skills and experience required to safely lead groups of certified divers in different situations and environments. You will learn what is needed to be able to manage a group of divers and to work with other dive guides to achieve this. You will learn how to brief a dive group both in terms of the dive site and  safety procedures. You will learn how to guide dives both from the shore and from a boat.

  • The SSI Dive Guide specialisation costs 500€ and consists of at least 10 open water dives. The course can be completed in one to two weeks and is open to any diver holding the required prerequisites.
  • Important: The dive guide specialisation is a non teaching certification. However, if you successfully complete both the SSI Dive Guide AND Science of Diving specialisations you will automatically earn the divemaster rating.
