Become an SSI Assistant Instructor
An interim step in becoming a fully qualified SSI Open Water Instructor is to become an SSI Assistant Instructor. The course is designed to introduce you to SSI’s teaching system and philosophy. A full understanding of the SSI teaching system is important for you to become an effective assistant instructor.
As a teaching assistant you will learn how to assist an open water instructor in teaching the Open Water Diver programme. Your dive control certification will also allow you to independently teach a variety of SSI training programmes. In order to undertake the dive control specialist course you must be at least 18 years of age, with a minimum of 60 logged dives and have already been certified as an SSI Divemaster.
- The SSI Dive Control Specialist course costs 550€ and consists of both confined and open water dives testing your techniques and teaching skills.. The full course can be completed in one week and is open to any diver holding the required prerequisites.
