Wow a shark – I wish I had a camera with me!

For many divers one of the most enjoyable and rewarding aspects of diving is the ability to take photos and videos that are permanent reminders of their dives. Just think that if the first time you see a sting ray or an Angel shark you have your camera with you to capture the moment. Alternatively, the first time your children go into the water as divers is a memory you will want to treasure. The SSI Photo and Video speciality is designed to give you the knowledge and experience you need to make the get the most out of your camera or video.

As well as covering basic photographic skills such as composition and the use of lighting the course also emphasises the importance of the dive skills needed to take good quality photographs. Good buoyancy and trim are just as important for taking good photos as knowing how to use your camera. Poor buoyancy control leads to shaky photos and probably stirred up sand.

We are very fortunate at Calero Diving to have our own professional photographer and videographer. You can see Natasha’s photos and videos throughout this website. If you are already an experienced underwater photographer and want to extend you skills then Calero Diving has advanced photography courses that you can follow.
