Probably the most important speciality of all.

Have you ever thought, would I know what to do if my buddy got into trouble? or how can proper preparation help to avoid accidents? It is a truism that many dive accidents could have been prevented before entering the water by carrying out the correct procedures for the preparation and checking of equipment. The SSI Diver Stress and Rescue course is designed to help you learn to consider the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your fellow divers. Although the course has a serious purpose, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence and skill levels. The importance of this speciality is shown by the fact that it is a pre-requisite for becoming an SSI Master Diver.

Many divers say that the Rescue Diver course is one of the most enjoyable and valuable of all diver certifications. The Stress and Rescue Diver course training will help you to understand how to prepare for your dive so as to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. During the three open water sessions, you’ll cover aspects including:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • dive first aid
  • underwater problems
  • missing diver procedures
  • egress (exits)
  • surfacing the unconscious diver
  • emergency management and equipment
  • swimming and non-swimming assists
  • first aid procedures for pressure related accidents
  • dive accident scenarios
  • panicked diver response
  • inwater artificial respiration
