The Tongues
East of Twin Pipes lies the site known as Las Lenguas – “The Tongues” – named after its distinctive reef formation.
When briefing this dive site, it’s often easiest to explain it using the shape of an open hand.
If you spread your fingers, you get a surprisingly accurate picture of what Las Lenguas looks like underwater.
Several smaller reef walls branch out from the main reef, with sandy channels in between, creating the distinctive “finger-like” layout that gives the site its name.
At the western end of Las Lenguas, two particularly photogenic features make this site especially memorable.
The first is a natural window in the outer reef – perfect for one of the classic underwater photos.
Just north of it, a small natural arch allows you to swim through and rise up out of the opening – another great photo moment.
