Cueva de Las Gambas
Cueva de las Gambas is a well-known dive site in Puerto del Carmen, particularly popular with advanced and technical divers.
The dive takes place along a reef wall that leads down to a cave at around 40 metres.
Due to its depth and profile, this dive is suited to experienced, deep and technical divers.
Inside the cave, large swarms of shrimp gather in the darkness, creating a unique and dynamic scene.
Groupers often patrol the cave, waiting for the perfect moment to hunt the shrimp.
The dive typically starts at Playa Chica and follows the reef wall down towards deeper water.
On the way down, you’ll often pass garden eels and a variety of reef life before reaching the deeper zone.
The cave should be approached and entered carefully, respecting both depth and the delicate environment.
Given the depth of the dive, decompression or careful dive planning is required.
