Program Overview:

It is so relaxing when the sun is out, the sea is calm and there is no current. Unfortunately, not every day is like this when we want to dive, even in Lanzarote! If you have a planned a weekend away or a dive holiday then you need to be equipped to deal with whatever mother nature throws at you.

The SSI Waves, Tides and Currents speciality will help you to safely enjoy your dives whatever the conditions. You will learn how to plan dives from shores when there are waves and learn the importance of the tides in reducing the difficulty of a dive. You will also learn how to deal with currents either when you need to return to a fixed exit point or just drifting along with the current on a drift dive.

Training Standards:

• Course duration: 1 day
• 2 open water dives
• 1 academic session
• 1 optional confined water session
• Maximum depth: Varies with age
• Suggested duration: 6–10 hours
• Course price: 250€

Requirements:

• Minimum age: 12 years old
• Open Water Diver certification or equivalent
