SSI Advanced Open Water Diver
Program Overview.
If you already hold your Open Water Diver certification, the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course is the perfect next step to continue your training and gain more real diving experience.
Instead of choosing a full specialty right away, this course allows you to try 5 different adventure dives so you can discover what type of diving you enjoy most.
During the course, you’ll complete 5 dives under the direct supervision of one of our instructors.
Two of these dives — Deep Diving and Navigation — are mandatory.
The remaining three dives can be selected from a range of adventure dives offered at the centre, including the following options:
- Wreck Diving
- Boat Diving
- Enriched Air Nitrox
- Photo & Video
- Search & Recovery
- Waves, Tides & Currents
- Fish Identification
- Perfect Buoyancy
After completing the course, your recommended depth limits will increase as follows:
Divers over 15 years old: 30 m
Children aged 12–14: 21 m
This course helps you build confidence, expand your diving experience and decide which specialties you may want to continue with in the future.
The Advanced Open Water Diver course is one of the best ways to gain experience quickly while continuing to develop your diving skills with professional guidance.
Each Adventure Dive completed during this course can later count towards the corresponding full SSI Specialty.
For example, if you complete the Deep Diving adventure dive during this course, you’ll only need two more dives later to complete the full Deep Diving Specialty.
