Decompression Diving

Take your diving beyond traditional limits with controlled and planned decompression dives.

Program Overview

The SSI Decompression Diving specialty is designed for experienced divers who want to go beyond no-decompression limits in a controlled and structured way. It introduces you to the planning, procedures and mindset required for dives that include limited decompression.

Unlike standard recreational diving, this course teaches you how to plan dives that include staged decompression stops, manage your gas more precisely and use your dive computer to support more complex dive profiles.

You’ll learn how to plan and conduct dives up to 40 metres with limited decompression, including gas planning, ascent strategies and the correct use of decompression cylinders and procedures.

This specialty is often seen as the step between advanced recreational diving and more technical training, giving you the tools to extend your dives while maintaining a high level of control and safety.
